Jiankou: An Advanced Trek up the Unrestored Wild Wall — Beijing
The Jiankou Great Wall, left unrestored and crumbling along the ridge, is what photographers and veteran hikers call the 'real Great Wall.' Climb the steep mountain path to meet overwhelming wildness at the 'Beijing Knot' and the ridge watchtowers. The difficulty is high with risk of falls, so hiking experience, trekking shoes and a guide are effectively essential, and entry is forbidden in rain or ice. If unsure of your safety, Jinshanling or Mutianyu are recommended.
